There is one quality New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning and his New York Jets counterpart Mark Sanchez have not shared in their early careers.

Mark Sanchez

Neither is obnoxious.

Up to a few days ago anyway.

Manning, however, compared himself to Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, which is just completely out of line.

While Eli has guided the Giants to one Super Bowl, a win over the Pats, Brady has been to four big games, winning three of them.

And the stats?

Brady’s thrown for about 100 more career touchdowns than Manning and with far fewer interceptions.

Like the 25 picks Eli tossed last season in a disappointing campaign.

Across town, Sanchez decided to talk tough in saying he wanted to fight Rex Ryan last season when the coach considered removing him from a game due to a poor performance.

So Sanchez gets to sound tough without actually having thrown a punch, which I’m glad he didn’t do.

It just seems so phony though and a false show of machismo, something that would be more like his coach would do or say.

Neither quarterback improved their lots by what was reported this week.

The need to strap on their helmets, get out on the field and play ball.

This season, once in jeopardy due to labor strife, now can’t start soon enough.
