Physician, writer, philanthropist, and former Silicon Valley entrepeneur, Brilliant was a student of Ram Dass’s guru Neem Karoli Baba in the 1970s (alongside Lama Surya Das, Daniel Goleman, Krishna Das, and Sharon Saltzberg). Brilliant has since founded the SEVA foundation to help blind people in Tibet, Nepal, India, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Tanzania, and Mexico. He is currently head of Google’s impressive philanthropic arm. He says here that if the World Health Organization got it together to irradicate polio, we can focus our shared energy on climate change and eventually win the battle.
