Ohio State University football players are celebrating a big win, but it’s one that took place off the football field. On August 25th, several Christian groups hosted a revival event at the university’s Curl Market, with a number of former and current players sharing testimonials. The event also saw around 60 people baptized, with as many as 2,000 people attending the event. “It started with a group of athletes and on-campus ministries, and then churches and hundreds of students came together,” said Kamryn Babb, former OSU wide receiver who spoke at the event. Current players TreVeyon Henderson, Emeka Egbuka, and J.T. Tuimoloau also joined Babb. Players also had 10,000 Bibles to hand out to attendants.

Babb encouraged a life of faith for his listeners. “I just encourage you to step out in faith. Whatever you’re going through in life — whatever you’ve been through — I’m telling you there’s a God that desires you,” he said. “So, as we get into this worship, as we get into everything, we pray that you would see Him as He sees you. So, as we get into this night, let’s give Him the glory.” Henderson shared his testimony of how God had set him free. “I’m only righteous because of what the Lord has done for me. It wasn’t anything I did, it was Jesus,” he said. After testimonies were shared, an altar call was made for anyone who had a desire to be baptized. Four tubs, usually used for the team’s ice tubs, were on stage where football players baptized respondents. “Person after person came,” an anonymous faculty member told The Christian Post. “You could just see the Spirit moving in people. It was different, nothing I’ve ever experienced before.” The faith of OSU’s players has brought national attention, with at least 21 players wearing “Jesus Won” or other faith-related shirts to pronounce their faith to the world.

Speaking with Fox News, Babb shared the impact of the event. “God truly showed up,” he said. He also shared the message of the Gospel. “This encouragement that I’ll give the world is, and that we gave students on campus and from young to old is, to repent of your sins and believe in the gospel of Jesus Christ, because it is the power to save men and women. He says that he gives those that believe in his name and believes in what he did on the cross the right to be children of God,” he said. He later went on to instruct viewers to, “Put faith in Jesus…and you will find a love and a peace and joy that is unlike anything that this world, or any person or any touchdown or anything or anybody can give you.”
