Coast Guard rescued crew of 13 after another oil rig exploded in the Gulf of Mexico. It is the second blast in four months. A mile-long oil sheen was spotted at the site, which is west of where the Deepwater Horizon drilling rig exploded on April 20. Eleven people died and the blast caused millions of gallon of oil to spill into the water until mid-July.
In light of the oil platform explosion, what do you think about the drilling debate? Should a moratorium be enforced indefinitely? What about the environmental impact of accidents such as these or the livelihood of residents dependent upon the oil industry, fishing and other related businesses?
