Day 20
There is something better than expecting to get everything we’re hoping for here and now. It is a willingness to wait for all our deepest longings to be fulfilled in heaven.
Read Hebrews 11:8-28.
Abraham may have died with no home and with only a cave to his name. Moses may have died having never stepped foot into the Promised Land. But they died confident of a better place—a better country than Canaan, a better home than the Promised Land.
Because they desired this better heavenly country, they persevered in their faith, even when they couldn’t see it. And through their perseverance, they received the privilege of being commended by God.
List at least six characteristics that describe the people of faith mentioned in 11:13-16.
Do you find yourself longing for a better country—a heavenly one? If so, what are you most looking forward to? If not, why do you think that is?
