Wednesday is Question and Answer Day on the blog…a time for exploring many of the questions that people have recently asked about the nine Conversations with God books and the New Spirituality. Here’s this week’s entry…
Topic: Wanting and Choosing
Question asked by: Cathy Campbell
Question: Hi Neale…I finally received the copy of “The Journey” I ordered, and I’m loving it. I’m dancing, laughing and answering God while I’m listening! I can tell you that this will be my morning “cup of coffee”…it is energizing, and instantly raises the vibrations of my energy!
While listening through it the first time, I realized that a passage from CWG “My promise is to always give what you ask; your promise is to ask” is on the CD. In other places in CWG God tells us not to ask, not to supplicate, but to appreciate and pray in the form of thanks; for to ask is to acknowledge that you don’t have something. My first question is to ask why you have “asking” on the CD when God has suggested not to ask, but to thank. My second question is about “asking” in itself.
I still ask, often every day, for help from God, the Angels, my Divine Presence, etc. and I often ask for guidance on particular matters, in the sense of “I ask for help in remembering what I already know about this”, or “I ask for guidance from my Divine Presence, God, Source..” or “I ask for help in raising my vibrational frequencies to the highest vibrations” and “I ask for help in knowing what I want, I ask for help in increasing my awareness of myself and what’s around me”…you get the idea. So I ask, because I truly am acknowledging that I need help, assistance, guidance in re-membering, Who I AM, Who I want to BE, What I want to do, What I want to have…I DO need help in re-discovering my soul – so I ask for that help. I realize I could change the wording around to put these things in the form of thanks or choosing, instead of asking; but is the wording really so important when my Source Thought is that I know I have All within, but am asking for help and guidance in bringing that forth from within?
I read a few weeks ago the question/answer about “wanting”, and remember that you mentioned something about the wording not being so important once we are beginning to live the principles God explains to us in CWG; and that you, yourself still use the word “want”, but you know in your soul what you mean by it…in other words, I guess you are referring to Source Thought. So is Source Thought the main thing here, on the “asking” issue, or the wording…or is it both/and?
Thanks for listening, and though I’m not sure I’ve worded my question very well, I’m sure you understand where I’m coming from and what my soul is asking!
Great job on the CD!!!!!! If it wasn’t so energizing, I’d listen to it while going to sleep too!!

Neale’s Response: My dear Cathy…you have stated it perfectly. The exact words that we use when we pray to God are not nearly as important as the understandings that we hold in our heart during the time of prayer and, indeed, during the days of our lives. If you truly know the you have all wisdom within, then you will experience that exact reality — even as you have done in your own question above.
When Conversations with God says that our job is to ask, it does so within the context of all of the other understandings that the CwG dialogue brings us. Not the least of these is the understanding that “even before you ask, I will have answered.” If we hold that particular understanding in our moment of asking, then the universe is clear that our asking does not come from a place of insufficiency or lack, but rather, from a place of absolute knowing that our “asking” is merely a device by which we “call forth” the experience that we now wish to embrace as part of our physical reality.
Thanks for taking a look at this. Great question!
