The vast majority of people visiting this blog feel that God has no need or desire to punish anyone who takes his or her own life; that God is neutral in the matter, and empowers all living beings to make their own choices — about this, and about everything — without fear of negative consequences in the Afterlife.
Could this be correct? There is no way we will ever know until we, ourselves, “cross over” to the “other side” and come to Full Awareness once again. Until then we can listen to the chorus of angels in our heart, and hope that we can hear clearly God speaking God’s Truth to us.
I began a discussion of this whole subject of euthanasia the other day and produced a slew of responses. I read every one of them, and found them all, every one, to be extraordinarily interesting. In the survey I took, nearly 85% of respondants chose Answer B — God is essentially neutral in the matter of assisted suicide…or any suicide, for that matter. The second largest response was for Answer A: God says it is okay. The smallest number of responses…only a handful, including multiple and continuing posts from one person…chose Answer C: God says it is “wrong.”
Tomorrow I will review those responses in some detail. For now, I would invite you all to ponder this single and particular reaction, from the person who did not enter a name…
In the Bible, there are six recorded suicides. In none of these is there any implication that God condones or condemns, that they went to hell, although he doesn’t encourage them either, any of them.
I would love to know what those six recorded suicides were…I would love the specific references…and I would love to know if Bible readers and serious Bible students agree with the above statement.
I want to thank all of you for your intense interest and overwhelming response to the blog posting here the other day on euthanasia. In my next posting, my reaction to your reaction. Have a wonderful, wonderful day.
