I love new things. New friends, new adventures, new shoes and New Moons! Tonight’s New Moon in Cancer (9:24 p.m. PT / 12:24 a.m. ET) begins a new lunar cycle, so it’s time once again to spend a little bit of time thinking about what I want to happen in the month ahead.
The New Moon is always a great time to start new things, and I’m eager to get a jump on a few projects. I want to paint my bathroom, start a new art piece and shop around for new backpacking gear. But this particular New Moon indicates I might be a little slow out of the gate in getting started with those things.
That’s because Cancer is such a cautious zodiac sign, and it advices we take our time in order to make sure everything goes smoothly. So I’ll probably need to spend some extra time thinking and planning before I start doing any of those things. Not to mention Mercury is retrograde until August 8, which also warns against starting new things.
I guess that means for now I’m just going to meditate on what color to paint the bathroom, flesh out that art project in my mind, and compare prices on outdoor gear before making any big purchases.
This need for caution applies to everyone now. This is an emotional New Moon that leaves our feelings a bit raw, so taking time to slow down and carefully think things through is the best way to proceed smoothly.
If we all practice a little bit of patience now, we’ll soon be able to pounce on all our new endeavors with confidence. Maybe I’ll even be able to find someone to paint my bathroom for me.
