I always plan my summer campouts around the best viewing times for meteor showers, and this year I’m especially excited about the timing of the annual Perseid meteor shower, which peaks this coming Saturday and Sunday, August 11-12.
I’ll be on a backpacking trip high in the Goat Rocks Wilderness of Washington State, so I expect the viewing to be spectacular. Especially on the peak night in those quiet hours before dawn, when the Perseids can produce 50 or more meteors per hour!
Getting away from city lights makes all the difference in stargazing, so if you have an opportunity to get away from the bright lights of the big city this weekend, I highly recommend you do so.
Last year I was at a cabin in the country near Detroit Lake, Ore. during the Perseid meteor shower, and there were so many stars shooting across the sky so fast I barely had time to wish on them.
This reminds me, I need to come up with some new wishes to make on all these shooting stars!
I’m not going to leave this up to chance. I’m going to run an Astrology Life Purpose report for a quick reminder about my life’s mission, so that way I’ll know exactly what to wish for and how to best make those wishes come true.
Enjoy this weekend’s cosmic light show!
