My son taught me a simple, but important lesson the other day with a turkey sandwich.

I often join him at school for lunch. I almost always get a wrapped turkey sandwich while he chooses the “hot” lunch. He always asks me why I get the sandwich. “Because I like them,” I say.

The other day I came home from work, and on the kitchen table waiting for me was a wrapped turkey sandwich from school.

He came up to me, and said: “Dad – I brought you home a turkey sandwich because I know you like them.”

Wow – I was speechless. What an amazing thing he did – that we, as adults, are often too wrapped up in ourselves to remember:

He paid attention to what I liked and remembered it.
