Country musician Colt Ford is in critical condition after suffering a heart attack following a performance in Gilbert, Arizona. His representative said in a statement provided to Fox News Digital that the 53-year-old had recently played a show at Dierks Bently’s Whiskey Row. His representative added, “He is currently in stable but critical condition in the ICU.”
The “Slow Ride” singer is in the intensive care unit at the Banner Desert Medical Center in Mesa, Arizona. He was scheduled to perform at the Star of the Desert Arena in Primm, Nevada. Along with several No.1 hits, Ford originally recorded Jason Aldean’s “Dirt Road Anthem,” which has garnered over 927 million streams worldwide. Ford, born Jason Farris Brown, became known for his unique ability to blend rap and country genres. He’s the only artist to have a No. 1 album on Billboard Top Country Albums (“Declaration of Independence”) and Top Rap Albums (“Thanks for Listening”).
The former professional golfer has since collaborated with Jake Owen, Jamey Johnson, Dillon Carmichael and Brantley Gilbert. Multiple music outlets have reported that Ford has a long history of health problems, including eye cancer and an autoimmune disease known as Myasthenia Gravis.
The disorder “affects the muscles in your face, your eyes, and your throat. It hadn’t really affected my throat, but it really affected my eye. I had no control over my right eye. It really messes with your vision. I could see perfectly out of either eye, but then I would look together, and I’d see three of you, and you would be melting together like a lava lamp,” Ford told Taste of Country in 2023.
In these times of trouble, we know there’s a Healer who can make the impossible possible and cure any sickness. Matthew 18:20 reminds us that where two or three are gathered in His name, God is among them. Let’s take the time to say a prayer for Colt Ford’s healing and his family:
Heavenly Father,
We know You are a healer, and we know what You are capable of because we’ve seen Your work in the past. You helped the blind man see, and the lame man walk. Right now, Father, we come to You and ask that You heal Colt Ford from any affliction. Please heal any sickness in his body so that he can go back to his family and the life he lived. Please keep his family close to Your heart as they wait patiently by his side for him to be released from the hospital. We thank You in advance for Colt’s healing and know that You are able. In Jesus’ name, we pray, amen.
