Renowned pastor and leader Bishop T.D. Jakes, 67, experienced a medical emergency while delivering a sermon at The Potter’s House in Dallas on Sunday. The service, which was being livestreamed, took an unexpected turn as Jakes appeared to fall silent, dropped his microphone, and began shaking involuntarily in his seat.

Before the incident, Jakes was passionately preaching, his voice resonating with faith and conviction. His last audible words were, “Oh Lord, my strength, my redeemer, let them go in peace.” Moments later, church staff and supporters rushed to assist him, asking the congregation to “give him some space.”

The livestream abruptly ended, leaving both the in-person and online congregations in a moment of collective concern and prayer. A voice off-camera encouraged everyone to “begin to pray,” igniting a wave of spiritual solidarity from his global audience.

Shortly after, Bishop Jakes’ team shared an update on X (formerly Twitter), reassuring followers that the beloved pastor was stable and under the care of medical professionals. The statement read, “During today’s service, Bishop T.D. Jakes experienced a slight health incident and received immediate medical attention following his powerful hour-long message. Bishop Jakes is stable and under the care of medical professionals.”

The statement continued, “The entire Potter’s House family is grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support from the community. Thank you for your understanding and continued prayers.”

Known for his unwavering faith and dynamic sermons, Bishop Jakes has been a pillar in the Christian community for decades. As the leader of The Potter’s House, a megachurch with over 30,000 members, his ministry extends far beyond the pulpit, touching lives globally through books, films, and humanitarian efforts.

As Bishop Jakes recovers, his congregation and supporters worldwide are lifting him in prayer and trusting God for his complete healing and restoration.
