Everything we learned in Kindergarten!

I remember my kindergarten room was all about cooperation, community and acceptance.  Sharing. Doing things independently and then learning how to do them together.  “Hands are for making things, not for hitting.”   “That’s okay that she is different than you are.  We can all still work together.” I can see my teacher’s smiling, freckled face.  What a cheerful soul.  To be a good kindergarten teacher is a sacred calling.  It really is THE Launching Point for our careers and many of our life’s lessons and challenges.

My point?   I’m guessing President Obama had a pretty awesome kindergarten teacher.

WASHINGTON, July 22, 2011 – Based on recommendations from military leaders, President Barack Obama has certified to Congress that the U.S. armed forces are prepared for repeal of the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” law.

There is a 60-day waiting period before the repeal goes into effect, so the law will officially come off the books Sept. 20. After that date, gay service members can be open about their sexual orientation.

The president signed the certification and delivered it to Congress today.
