Today marks a special holiday for My Close Personal Friend Stephen Colbert. Although he was, of course, named for the patron saint of deacons, he feels some misguided attachment to that other St. Stephen, whose feast is today, August 16. He has even referred to him several times on his TV show. (I’m sure the only thing that prevents him from paying similar homage to the original St. Stephen is that his feast falls the day after Christmas, when all the Colberts are busy with the Boxing Day festivities.)

Anyway, this has not been lost on the hardworking team of blogging professionals over at The Word: Catholic Colbert. They’ve posted a couple very amusing clips of My Close Personal Friend chatting about the saint. Wander over and have a look.

And check out the eerily prescient relic which, I have to tell you, totally creeps me out.
