As we continue our journey through Holy Week, I got an e-mail from a reader, alerting me to a new and, I think, very interesting voice in the blogosphere.
It is aimed at those suffering with cancer — both those who have the disease, and those who love them.
It’s called Helping Others With Cancer, and is the brainchild of a 48-year-old wife and mother who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer nearly two years ago. That she has survived this long is nothing less than astounding. That she has done it with an eye toward helping others is inspiring. Visit her blog. Spread the word. Share it with those you know who are facing this same long climb, up their own personal Calvary.
I’ve written and even preached here about a good friend of mine who recently died from this disease. And I’ve also paid tribute to the great Randy Pausch, who is waging his own war, and inspiring countless thousands around the world. Cancer has touched all of us in one way or another — my mother died of breast cancer — and I think posting on these great people from time to time may be one small way to remind us that we are all in this fight together.
