After getting a lot of inquiries over the last few months — including one just today — I decided to add a new sidebar feature to the blog: Books About Deacons.

It’s just a start, but I hope to add to it in the weeks and months to come. It’s in the right hand column, right under the Notable and Quotable section. If you click on the book title, it will take you to a description of the book from the publisher, and give you information on ordering it. Most titles, right now, are from Paulist Press, which has been very proactive in creating a “Deacon Library.” (I’ve also blurbed a couple of their books, and can attest that they are a great introduction to the vocation.) If anyone else out there knows of some worthwhile books on deacons, especially for those who are discerning the vocation, please don’t hesitate to let me know! Just drop me a line.

I hope this will be a helpful resource to people who wander by The Bench looking for information.
