A few months ago, one of my classmates who was ordained with me just last year died after a brief illness. The deacons of Atlanta have now suffered a similar loss. I got the following e-mail earlier tonight:

Deacon Dale Lister, Archdiocese of Atlanta, ordained this past February, went to be with the Lord last evening after a long and courageous battle with cancer. While his formal diaconal ministry was brief, this husband of 41 years, father of three, and grandfather of 4 accomplished a lot in his brief ministry and by personal example, preached and lived the life of the Gospel without a need for words. May God bless this gentle soul, as we who remember him are blessed.

Deacon Dale Lister

My prayers are with my brother deacons, and with Deacon Dale Lister’s family. May his soul and the souls of all the faithfully departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
