Well, Andrew Sullivan points to this Amazon link as evidence of a lavender underground, but the evidence — like the wafers in question — is thin.

From my experience, priests don’t buy communion wafers; sacristans or church secretaries do. And most are purchased from this company in New England, which supplies something like 75% of the churches in America. 

I’ve never heard of a parish buying its wafers through Amazon.com.

And it’s worth noting:  Catholics aren’t the only ones who use communion wafers. Protestant denominations buy them, too — including one that is known for having one or two prominent gay bishops.
