Sage Smudge Spray Recipe
Smudging heals and cleanses your spiritual body and space. But what to do you when you want to smudge but are allergic to smoke, or you want to smudge your work space to get rid of negative energies but smoke would create problems at work? Smudge spray is the smokeless alternative for such situations.
What is a smudge spray?
A smudge spray is the modern way of getting the purifying effects of a smudge without the smoke of a smudge. A smudge spray is a bottle of spiritually charged water, essential oils, salt, crystals, and plants.
Lavender and Sage smudging spray are the more popular smudge sprays. While both white sage and clary sage come from the same evergreen shrub family, they are very different when it comes to scent. Sage has a strong, spicy scent while clary sage has a sweet, nutty aroma. Both Sage and Lavender lift mood, relieve stress and anxiety, and purify small skin wounds. Sage and Lavender also lift up your vibrational energy levels. This is great for getting in touch with your higher self, or letting go of some depressed energy.
Sage smudge spray recipe
There are many smudge spray recipes on the internet. Most have two essential oils, with Sage the main one. Jodi Sky Rogers has some nice combinations.
I make my own protection sprays and this smudge spray is easy to make. Enjoy!
To make your own smudge spray you’ll need:
- 150 ml bottle. You can use a bigger bottle, just adjust the proportions accordingly.
- Essential oil of Sage and one other essential oil of your choice.
- Distilled water. Some people use Holy water because its blessed and so contains more power for cleansing areas of negativity.
- Crystal stone or piece of sage. Use one that gives you a good feeling.
- A pinch of sea salt.
- Alcohol or witch hazel. I prefer to use alcohol. Vodka is best because it has virtually no odour, is clear, and isn’t sticky.
Fill 3/4 of the bottle with water.
Add 4 to 8 drops of sage essential oil. Add 2 to 4 drops of the other essential oil (your choice).
Add the crystal or sage leaf.
Top up with alcohol or witch hazel.
Bless and charge the contents by placing the bottle between your hands. See (or imagine) a white light engulf the bottle. Call on your spirit guides to imbue the smudge spray with healing and cleansing properties.
Happy smudge spraying! ♥
