Frat parties, binge drinking, one-night hook ups and lots of next day regret? Not for some young women. They’ve taken a stand against the party hardy norm and do not want to be the next hook up on their college campus. And it may surprise you who is saying NO.

These women are defying the odds. Statistics tell us that 78% of women will engage in a college hook up at least once in their college stay; 14% will need a friend tell them what happened; and 16% will give in to sexual pressure. In one year, 97,000 cases of sexual assault or date rape related to binge drinking will be reported on college campuses and another 100,000 college coeds will be uncertain as to whether or not they had sex because they were too drunk. Now those are not stats you will see on MTV as media encourages college students to party like rock stars. Apparently, everyone is not doing it!

Some women of faith have had enough. In what may look like an unusual pairing, Catholics and Muslim women of faith at Catholic University have banded together to take a stand against premarital sex and out of control drinking. Both behaviors are a violation of their faith and behaviors they find degrading. Banding together, they hope to find strength to go against the odds of expectations.
