While most people of the world struggle for enough to eat, those of us
with weight problems have too much, and eat too much. What a paradox!
Obesity isn’t just a disease of poverty, either–many people with little or no money are still overweight. What then, is the cause of the problem? It’s
about feeding yourself physically, emotionally, and spiritually. It’s
not enough to feed your body–you need to feed your soul and Spirit,
too.
Trouble is, many of us have confused a full stomach with a full
life. Instead of building lives that satisfy, we’ve tried to satisfy
ourselves with food.
If we’re satisfied with ourselves, there’s no need to try and fill our
emptiness and salve our discomforts with overeating. If we’re at peace,
there’s no need to self-medicate with instant gratification. If we’re
whole human beings, connected with our Creator, doing His work with
purpose and passion–there’s no need to look to food for fulfillment.
