How do you lose weight with God? Simple, just ask Him for help. A lot of readers have asked me to write more about this. Funny, that’s what I’ve written about the most in the last 9 years! I fear I’m always talking about God, even too much, I love Him so completely.
Here’s a comment posted this week by an anonymous reader:
“Dr. Norris, It seems this is a subject that could use more discussion. It is easy to tell someone to put God first, most of us already know that. When a person is suffering from low esteem so strongly that they choose not to engage in social activities outside of the house…they may not be able to see through the fog of their own emotional distress, therefore missing the “light” that God can bring into their lives.”
My answer to you is this. Look inward. Let “the fog” of your external emotions be a tool, a way to quiet down and focus on that little spark of love and spiritual presence inside, and then ask God for help. It’s not about self esteem, social activities outside the house, or even church. It’s about God’s likeness living within YOU. Get peaceful and quiet, and put yourself aside, and let God reveal Himself.
How does this pertain to weight loss? While you are putting yourself aside and asking God for help, let this also be about the problems you have with food. Be it overeating, having the wrong things, a lack of movement or exercise, physical or emotional problems – they don’t matter when you give everything to God. God is here, right now, with you, loving you, guiding you.
I’m not saying don’t pay attention to your body, emotions or problems – I’m saying exactly the opposite – take action on them by surrendering them to the care and will of God. Then your problems can be faced. Improvements can be made. Relief and liberation is yours by the grace of God.
