What about the “fat acceptance” concept? Shouldn’t I learn to love myself the way I am?
If this means accepting the fact that you are abusing yourself by overeating and not using your body then that’s a healthy concept.
If you mean “accepting” the idea you were
somehow “meant” to be overweight, I don’t buy it. Because being fat,
overweight, obese is definitely unhealthy. It’s the number one killer
in the form of coronary heart disease, stroke, diabetes, cancers,
arthritis, and a pile of other fatal and debilitating illnesses.

I don’t believe that it’s impossible to lose weight. Yes, it can be
difficult–and certain health conditions can make it even harder. But
losing some weight will clearly, definitely improve your health and
increase your overall life span. I don’t mean having to be a perfect
weight, or getting as skinny as fashion would dictate.
Sure, accept yourself and appreciate yourself for who you are. But don’t hurt yourself anymore by being obese.
I’d love YOUR thoughts on obesity, and “fat acceptance.” Please comment below.
