Why do doctors push diet pills if they’re harmful?
Many people are in such dire need of help they resort to pills. Perhaps
they have a lot of weight to lose, have given up hope, or flatly just
don’t want to face the reality that they have to learn to modify their
eating and lifestyle habits. Everyone knows that pills are not the true
solution. This is proven by the fact that no weight loss pill can be
taken forever.

What are you going to do when you stop taking them?
I’ve met many physicians, however, who are very responsible and
prescribe pills for short-term use–just to get the weight loss
started. They know–and generally tell their patients–that pills are
not the ultimate answer to weight loss and maintenance. In that
fashion, I can understand someone trying a pill. But please understand,
pills and medications always have side effects–some of them severe and
harmful.
What’s absolutely necessary if you do take weight loss pills is to educate yourself in healthful eating and activity habits…and DO IT! Then stay on medication for as short a time as possible.
