Think about this today: are you protecting yourself from happiness by keeping yourself overweight and unhealthy? Do you think you’re keeping yourself safe if you eat in over-abundance? You may be unknowingly, unconsciously over-protecting yourself by old habits and mistaken beliefs that a lot of food and too little activity is actually helpful. When I was a 400-pound teenager and early “20-something” I had a giant shield around me, and I didn’t have to worry about intimacy or sexual feelings, which were sore points. I felt so bad about myself that I ate for comfort and soothing, which made me fatter and more unappealing with every excess bite. I had the mistaken thought that if I exerted myself in exercise, I would be harming my heart or bones. Truth is, exercise is good for the heart and body! Truth is, so is being sexually intimate with your spouse! Get to the deep part of yourself that you may be covering up with fat.
