Today, I offer you a prayer from a Christian saint, Evagrios of Pontus (c.345-399), was one of the most prominent figures among the monks of the desert settlements in Lower Egypt. The works of Evagrios had a profound influence on Eastern Orthodox monastic teaching.

Think of this teaching today, as you do your best for your body and soul, who belong to God.
 

As bread is food for the body,
and holiness is food for the soul,
so spiritual prayer is food for the interior mind.
