It’s Veteran’s Day in the US, a day that we honor and celebrate those who serve in the military and protect our country, and sometimes the world.

Today, though, I am thinking about the military and war, and how it is so sad that we have to be involved in war at all.

Too much money is spent on military and defense. Over half and by some accounts, as much as 75% of the US budget is spent on defense. And we are largely in debt because of it!

The war in Iraq has cost trillions. Did it accomplish that much?

What if we spent much less on war and more on education and peace?

I do honor veterans, and appreciate their many sacrifices. I just want an end to war, violence and destruction.

Only by God’s grace can we find peace and truly “love our neighbors” as Jesus Christ taught. And as other religions do as well.
