We all come from eternity. The trick is to determine how to start consciously returning to eternity while we are still alive in human form. Philosophers tell us that the best way to do so is by living in the present. If we recognize that each moment is an opportunity to do just that, hopefully, we will start living differently. It creates a dichotomy wherein we are challenged to seek the perfection within each moment and not worry about the failings or victories of the past or the future. Once we begin to find the perfection inherent within each moment, we will slowly begin to merge with eternity. Once we shift the focus of our consciousness to the moment, we will see a change in our basic composition. We will become less dense and more filled with the essence of who we truly are.
So here is the rub. Concentrate upon the perfection within each moment, to assure that you will live forever. It seems contradictory, but it is not. When we focus upon just the moment that is occurring in the present, we are free from the ghosts of the future and the shackles of the past. We have all had this feeling. A moment of complete perfection when, just for a second, we became one with everything. There were no thoughts, no judgments, just pure existence. For some of us this occurs when we are downhill skiing or snowboarding. For others, this may happen when you look at your child sleeping, hear a particularly exquisite musical piece or view a painting or photograph that just takes your breath away. We become so caught up in the beauty of the moment that we forget to fret about the past or worry about the future. We, in that brief moment, simply exist.
Now I understand that many of us are not always living in ideal conditions that will allow us to experience some of these moments. Life, with all of its responsibilities can be extremely difficult. However, we have to find a way to enjoy the “little things,” and we will find that epiphany. Be thankful and enjoy the fact that you have running water and can awaken and wash your face. If you don’t have access to running water be thankful for the fact that you are simply alive another day and will have an opportunity to observe many of the earth’s beautiful gifts: a purple sunrise or sunset; the warmth of the sun; the clarity of the sky in winter; the first snow of the season; the sound of a babbling brook… I could go on and on. Beauty is around us. We just need to observe our surroundings to find the beauty and become one with it. In that one second where you lose yourself in something enthralling, you will experience oneness with all that is. You will experience Eternity.
