“Life comes from physical survival; but the good life comes from what we care about.” – Rollo May

Does it feel like every year you are making resolutions about how you are going to live your life differently?

Maybe you have vowed to enjoy life more or to go after that big promotion you have been dreaming about. You don’t have to wait until a new year rolls around to establish some fundamentals that will help you live a good life. There are things you can do today that will help transform your life for the better, which will ultimately lead to a happier, more fulfilled life.

Check out these 10 fundamentals for a good life.

1. Feed your body food that will help it thrive. Do your best to eliminate foods that are hurting you. Cut out or reduce refined sugars and you will feel better within a matter of days.

2. Make an effort to get at least seven hours of sleep every night. When you are adequately rested, you feel better and look better, making you more confident and happy.

3. Dedicate time to worship and study. Keeping your faith alive and well gives you inner peace and happiness.

4. Commit to having less stress in your life. For the stress you do have, learn to manage it i.e. taking walks in the park, learning to meditate, deep breathing and etc…

5. Spend more quality time with your loved ones. Plan a night a week without TV, cell phones or computers and simply enjoy each other’s company playing board games or just talking.

6. Perform random acts of kindness. Hold a door open for a stranger, pay for the person behind you in the coffee line or shovel snow off your neighbor’s driveway. You will feel better for it.

7. Volunteer your time at a local homeless shelter, pet shelter or nursing home. Helping others will make your own life feel more fulfilled.

8. Avoid workplace gossip. Participating in gossip only brings you down. Rise above and choose to live your life and let others live theirs.

9. Celebrate the successes and blessings in your life. Be thankful for all the things and people that are in your life and don’t dwell on what you don’t have.

10. Laugh more often. Laughter is truly the best medicine. Enjoy life and learn to laugh. It does the body and soul good.
