“Worship is a way of seeing the world in the light of God.” – Abraham Joshua Heschel
Sometimes a busy work schedule or increased responsibilities can interfere with traditional worship times. Of course, this doesn’t mean that you can’t participate in worship. You just need to be a little more creative in working worship time into your life, but it can be done.
Here are five ways you can use to make sure worship remains an integral part of your life when life’s demands get in the way:
1. Attend an Online Worship Service
There are several churches that make services available online for people who can’t attend church for one reason or another. Additionally, some major churches have made the move to all-online services at multiple locations. Where there’s a will, there’s a way. An online service with chat rooms and forums can offer the same type of fellowship that traditional church attendance offers for members.
2. Hold Your Own Private Worship Service
Church isn’t a building, it’s what you are. It doesn’t matter if you gather in a building somewhere or in the great outdoors. You can worship anywhere you go, or in your own home. Don’t let your busy schedule interfere with your worship time. Worship wherever and whenever you feel the need to connect.
3. Join a Local Bible Study or Home Church
You may not be the only one in a bind. Others may find traditional church schedules to be limited. If you can find a group of like-minded friends, you can start a local Bible study that meets everyone’s scheduling needs, or you can join an already established home church for a more intimate type of worship that will fit your schedule needs.
4. Read Your Bible or Devotional
Taking time to study scripture and connect with God on a daily basis is absolutely necessary. You’ll find spending some alone time with God reading devotions or your Bible can give you an enormous spiritual recharge.
5. Rethink What Worship Really Means
You don’t have to go to an organized service or listen to a sermon to worship God. God appreciates worship efforts that involve serving others. Volunteer to hand out soup in a soup kitchen, mentor at-risk youth. Pray about what God wants you to do to reach out to others. Worship is giving of yourself to honor God.
There are thousands of ways to worship God. You should be involved in the type of worship that you feel called to do in order to fulfill God’s purpose for your life. Don’t let being busy hamper your efforts; get your time for worship in, any way you can
