Electronic bionics redefine physicality. According to Hugh Herr, a guest speaker on Ted Talks.

Hugh Herr climbs mountains and years ago he lost both of his legs in an accident. He was determined that his physical body wasn’t broken but that technology was broken.

As a student at MIT, he initiated what led to bionic legs, with which he has been able to return to climbing mountains and rocks. On the Ted Talks show Hugh Herr also revealed his and his co-worker’s last achievement of helping the woman who lost a leg at the Boston Marathon bombing. She came on stage with a dancing partner and they performed a ballroom dance, splendidly.

Hugh Herr explained how the bionics work, with neuron implants. He said, “For people who no longer want to be disabled, bionics will remove disabilities.”

Bionics can also be used by people without disabilities, to enhance performance.

Amid all this promising talk, I can’t help but see a nefarious mind at work, conniving how to use bionics to enhance hate and fear and theft.

Our spiritual prayers are needed. Ethics and morality are needed. Humanity must unite with truth and love to reduce the sorrows and increase the benefits. Inventions have their place, they teach us a lot, they help a lot of people, but they aren’t a cure-all. Only the rich and lucky will get the high performance bionics. Moreover, bionics can be broken, they can run out of electricity, they can go haywire. Honesty keeps these facts in mind.

Fortunately, ethics and morality can constantly be magnified. They won’t run out. Each day, each minute, we can do the right thing, no matter where we are or what situation we find our self in. No matter how many limbs we have or don’t have, we can be strong in truth and love and mercy and courage.

For this is the message that you have heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. 1 John 3:11 ESV
