Here’s today’s dispatch from the crossroads of faith, media and culture.

The cultural wisdom of Fred Rogers. PBS is out with a new video that puts one of the gentle monologues of the late iconic Presbyterian minister/kids ‘ show host (Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood) to music. In it he talks about the power of imagination to create a positive world around us.  More @ The Wrap.

You can grow ideas in the garden of your mind…All you have to is think and they’ll grow. A positive message for kids — and adults, for that matter.  Also a genial-but-powerful reminder of the opportunity and responsibility that comes with shaping the culture through media. The ideas we put out there will shape our culture for better or worse. So, a little less focus on anger, bitterness, cynicism and acerbic put-downs and a little more on understanding and working things out could go a long way in seeing us through the tough times we find ourselves in.  Here’s to nurturing the concepts of kindness, forgiveness, gratitude, mutual respect, hope and faith in our movies, TV shows, books, music and online videos. More light, less darkness + a brighter world. Just a thought.  Have a great weekend, everybody!
