ERACED: Uncovering the Lies of Critical Race Theory and Abortion. The provocatively titled new book from the conservative African American preacher John Amanchukwu Sr. pulls no punches when it comes to offering a proverbial off-the-plantation black perspectives on issues like CRT and the eternal value of unborn babies of all skin colors. His views on the issues facing our culture, to say the least, fly against the corporate media narrative.
JWK: Tell me about your book and why you wrote it.
John Amanchukwu Sr.: In the summer of 2020 while BLM and Antifa ruled the night and liberal and Democratic governors and mayors were out marching with anarchists shouting “Defund the Police!” (I was at) one of the busiest abortion clinics in the southeast called A Woman’s Choice Clinic of Raleigh. While being out there I had a black father approach me…I’ll never forget him. He said “Why are you out here fighting a white man’s issue?”
On that Saturday morning 70% of the people outside of the abortion clinic were white but nearly 80 to 85% of the customers prepared to abort their baby on that same day were black. So, this black man is going to say to another black man “Why are you out here fighting a white man’s issue?” Now, if I were to ask him “What is the definition of Critical Race Theory?” more than likely he probably couldn’t tell me what it is. However, he was a walking poster child for everything CRT because he even saw me through the lenses of being racist or supporting a cause of the white man, so to speak, even with me being out there trying to save babies. On that Saturday, had we been successful in saving all of the babies, 80 to 85% of the babies who would have been saved were black…That encounter really stuck with me. The Lord (gave) me a vision and a plan to really push back, of course, against abortion – but also this notion of Critical Race Theory that has creeped into our culture.
JWK: Maybe we can take one of those at a time. Critical Race Theory. You say it’s “an unstable and evolving ideology.” What do you mean by that?
JA: The thing is when you talk to most of the advocates of Critical Race Theory they’ll tell you that it doesn’t exist or they’ll tell you that it’s not being taught in our public school system. Critical Race Theory is a floating mass but it’s also elusive. Whenever you point it out, often times those who support it say “That’s not true and that’s not what we’re saying.”
Critical Race Theory presupposes that white people are inherently racist. Inherently. That is, for the lack of better words, that it’s in their DNA for them to be racist. It also says that racism is everywhere all the time, in every relationship and in every interaction and, therefore, its advocates look for it everywhere. (They) also act like anyone who disagrees with it must do so for racist and white supremacist reasons even if those people are black.
Within Critical Race Theory, you see this notion where there’s a labeling of white people as racist but the reality is this: Racism is NOT a skin tone or a color. Racism is sin – and we must point it out as sin. The Bible says in Romans 3:23 that “All have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God.” And when it speaks of “sin” there it’s talking about sin in general. It speaks of lasciviousness. It speaks of drunkenness. It speaks of individuals who are evil toward mankind. It speaks of individuals who fulfill all kinds of sinful behaviors. And, within that, it also speaks of racism.
So, we cannot call racism a skin tone. We must fight the evil tentacles of Critical Race Theory because, at the end of the day, Critical Race Theory doesn’t even support the black community because it turns blacks into victims. Here’s the problem. I don’t view myself through the lens of being a victim. I see myself as (a person) of The Bible and God says that I’m a “chosen generation.” God says that I am a “royal priesthood” and that I am a “peculiar people.” I see myself the way that God sees me.
Listen, I had the chance to be born in the greatest country on this planet – the United States of America. Is it a perfect country? The answer is no – but you can love something or someone who isn’t perfect.
JWK: Do you think those who are pushing the Critical Race Theory narrative are doing so because they believe it’s true or are they doing so intentionally to divide?
JA: I believe there are some who have drunk the Kool-Aid and believe that it’s true – but I do believe that it is a political tool…I ask people this question: How many white liberals do you know that are against Critical Race Theory or are speaking out against it? Critical Race Theory is set up to turn blacks against whites (particularly) white Republicans. See, the notion of CRT plays into the hands of the Democratic Party. Blacks have become the cheap prostitutes of the Democratic Party. They screw us and barely pay us and we keep coming back for more. What we need more than ever – especially as a church – is for us to fight these Woke ideologies and terms. You know a thing that is a theory is not a fact…It’s a hypothesis. It’s not true. This is someone’s opinion, that’s all. At the end of the day, we should resist CRT and we should use the factual truth that we find in God’s Word. God’s Word says to “love your neighbor as yourself.” If we do that well we won’t need cheap five-dollar terms like like Critical Race Theory.
JWK: Is the public really buying this or is it more a media thing?
JA: I believe that some of the public has bought it. I mean that gentleman on that Saturday morning who told me that I was out there fighting the “white man’s issue,” evidently, he bought into it. I do believe that the public has bought into it and do believe that individuals who are not well-versed in what is going on can be duped.
There is a misdirection that is taking place which is why we must keep our eye on the ball. I talk about keeping our eye on the ball in the first chapter of my new book. You know, I had a coach who berated us at halftime many years ago when I was playing high school football because we could not figure out what to do on a misdirection play which is where the offensive line goes in one direction and the ball carrier fakes everyone out as they go into another direction. In order to defend (against) and defeat a misdirection, you have to have to know your assignments and be disciplined. There is a misdirection within Critical Race Theory with all of the race-baiting and race hustling that we see taking place today – pitting whites against blacks and blacks against whites…Too many people are emotional. They feel their way through these things. Unless you are disciplined, you can’t really see what’s going on. So, we must keep our eye on the ball.
JWK: What is the motivation behind this misdirection?
JA: The intent is to keep people, in the words of Candace Owens, on the “Democratic Plantation.” If you want to control minorities, keep them in a state where they’re angry about the majority; They’re angry about the person with blues eyes, blond hair and white skin. Keep them angry with whites and keep them in a place where they’re thinking about slavery and they’re viewing America as a racist country solely. If you do that then you will control them politically.
There is an effort, there is a strategy, there is a deviant doctrine behind Critical Race Theory and, for many minorities, it has worked. So, God has given me the challenge of pointing out the racist soil of Critical Race Theory – which is racism – and abortion which was steeped in racism as well.
JWK: There is a statistic that says that nearly four times as many black babies have been aborted in American as white babies.
JA: Yes, this is true. You know, blacks only account for 13% of the overall population in our country. Black men account for 5% and black women account for 8% – but (blacks) account for nearly 38 to about 40% of the overall abortions…Listen, John, I want all babies to live. I want the white baby to live. I want the Hispanic baby to live. I want the Pacific Islander and the Asian baby; I want the other babies to live – but, as a black man married to a black woman with three beautiful black children, I desperately want black babies to live.
JWK: Do you think the Right-to-Life movement makes a mistake by not talking about the racial aspect of abortion enough?
JA: Yes, I do. I do think that they should bring up the racist history and the demonic racist ideology of Margaret Sanger. They should lead with that in every conversation. Everyone has made a god out of social justice today. The world’s kind of social justice is not God’s kind of social justice. The Bible tells us to “learn to do right” and then “seek justice.” We have people today who aren’t doing right but they want justice. I do think the Right-to-Life group should bring up the racist past of the abortion movement all the time. They should. This is why I have fused both of these racist ideologies, abortion and Critical Race Theory, together in this book – so that people can see the connection that they are both steeped in racism.
JWK: What do you make of the recent attacks on pro-life pregnancy centers in the wake of the Dobbs decision overturning Roe v. Wade?
JA: That’s a travesty that they will go out there and begin to burn down pregnancy resource centers. You know, the reality is, if they are for “choice,” why aren’t they happy about all choices? Choice that the left loves of is the choice that brings them money. If you follow the money you will see where the heart of the individual is. On the left, they want the $300 to $500 that comes along with a mother aborting her posterity. They don’t want the option of a pregnancy resource center or church becoming a house of refuge where we bring in mothers and throw them baby showers as the church that I attend has done over the past ten years. They don’t want the Church to fulfill its role. No, they want the $300 to $500 for what they call “surgery.”
Here’s the thing. At the end of the day, those who seek to fight against this Woke agenda – whether it’s fighting against the LGBTQ agenda which I discuss in my book, whether it’s fighting against Critical Race Theory, against intersectionality, all of the 1619 Project stuff (or) abortion – these individuals will be withstood (though) they’ll be people who seek to label us and to fight against us.
I was excited when Roe v. Wade was overturned. That’s nearly 50 years of fetal slavery. I view the overturning of Roe v. Wade as Fetal Emancipation Proclamation Day. When that took place I celebrated in the same manner that people in Galveston, Texas celebrated Juneteenth.
You know what’s amazing? The same people who celebrated Juneteenth and celebrated it becoming a federal holiday – you know, those on the left, they loved that; I celebrated Juneteenth – but these same individuals within the same week, they frowned when Roe v. Wade was overturned. Because you are against slavery, you ought to be against the slavery that has been taking place in the womb – and this slavery is not just towards blacks. It’s against mankind – but, you know, those things don’t fit together so they don’t see the connection but the connection is clear. We must point these things out and make them known to everyone…God is a God of love but he’s also a God of life and He came that we might have life, in fact, more abundantly. There cannot be abundant life until there’s freedom in the womb. We have a Constitution that gives us a right to life but this right has been (taken from) many babies. 64-million and counting have been aborted since 1973. You know, the leading cause of death in our country is not heart disease. It’s not tragic accidents. It’s not the corona virus. The leading cause of death in our country is abortion. We should talk about that more.
