From the crossroads of faith, media and culture, here are three upcoming films you may be interested in.

1. John Schneider is Doonby. The film also features  Ernie Hudson, Jennifer O’Neill, Robert Davi and Norma McCorvey, the original Roe v. Wade plaintiff who is now an ardent pro-life activist. Release Date: February 24 (limited opening in Dallas and Mississippi)

From LifeSiteNews: Doonby is not your typical anti-abortion movie…In fact, for the first 95% of the film, you think you’re watching a well-meaning low-budget thriller about a mysterious guy who shows up in a town and causes a bit of a stir. You wonder where it’s going, but even if you know it’s a pro-life movie, you’re surprised, delighted, and moved by the way it ends.

2.  October Baby arrives in March. A production of the Erwin Brothers and American Family Studios, October Baby tells the story of 19-year-old Hannah, who finds out she is adopted and is the survivor of an attempted abortion. Hannah (Rachel Hendrix) then goes on a road trip to find answers and locate her birth mother. Besides Hendrix, the cast also features Jasmine Guy and Doonby‘s John Schneider. Release Date: March 23

3. Girl in Progress proceeds toward theaters. Directed by Patricia Riggen (Under the Same Moon) and adapted from a screenplay written by Hiram Martinez, it’s the  story of Grace (Eva Mendes), a busy single mom who struggles to give her daughter, Ansiedad (Cierra Ramirez) the attention she desperately needs. When Ansiedad’s English teacher, Ms. Armstrong (Patricia Arquette of  TV’s Medium), introduces her students to classic coming-of-age stories, Ansiedad is inspired to skip adolescence and jump-start her life without mom. While Grace becomes preoccupied with the increasing affections of her co-worker (Eugenio Derbez), Ansiedad enlists the help of her loyal friend, Tavita (Disney star Raini Rodriguez), to plot her shortcut to “adulthood.” But as her misguided plan unravels, Ansiedad and Grace must learn that sometimes growing-up means acting your age. Release Date: April 27
Note: Girl in Progress  is receiving early support from Christian churches and organizations such as the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference (NHCLC) which says “The message is bound to impact thousands of lives and bring a life altering revelation, which will transform the homes of Hispanic families across the nation.”
