Here’s today’s dispatch from the crossroads of faith, media and culture.
Putting faith into action (and adventure). I just spoke with producer Chad Gundersen whose Texas-based Gundersen Entertainment shingle is making a name for itself by creating character-based suspense films that combine elements of the traditional action movie with his own personal faith. Currently, his company has two movies set to hit movie screens sometime next year.
The first, which I’ve been following for a while now, is called is a sci-fi drama called Unlimited. It’s about how the invention of a device capable of creating unlimited quantities of energy leads to murder. It stars Daniel Ross Owens, Robert Amaya (October Baby, Courageous) and Fred Thompson as Harold Finch, the real-life NASA scientist-turned-entrepreneur. Finch, who is also Christian motivational speaker and author, executive produced the film as a way of getting across the message that a belief in the value scientific research and faith in God are, in fact, complimentary concepts.
Here’s a first look at the film, via its recently-released trailer:
The second Gundersen film is a traditional Gunsmoke-style western called Redemption . It’s about a mortally-wounded outlaw who becomes separated from his gang and gains refuge hiding out at the home of Christian widow and her children. EchoLight Studios will distribute the film.
Here’s a look at the making of the film:
Chad Gundersen says he has high hopes for both Unlimited and Redemption. So do I.
SPECIAL NOTE: Congratulations to my pal Anthony Sacramone whose brilliant Strange Herring blog continues to set hit new milestones.
