Here’s today’s dispatch from the crossroads of faith, media and culture.

At least three films about the Easter Miracle are currently in development. The list includes The Resurrection (from producer Tim LaHaye), The Resurrection of the Christ (from American Trademark Pictures) and The Messiah (from a nonprofit group called In Jesus’ Name Production which, as Hollywood Reporter reports,  is seeking to raise $25 million through a crowd-funding campaign that asks one-million Christians to give $25 apiece to become “spiritual producers”). Plus, Mary Mother of Christ (with Joel Osteen set as executive producer) is also in the works, a story which certainly involves the Resurrection.  More at The Hollywood Reporter.
Comment: It shouldn’t hurt any of these projects that Sunday’s debut of the Mark-Burnett-Roma Downey miniseries The Bible on The History Channel  currently stands as the most-watched cable entertainment program of 2013.

Flashback: Here’s how the Resurrection was depicted in the climactic scene of the classic 1977 miniseries Jesus of Nazareth.
