I came across the following exchange on Facebook…

Status update:

“I know God loves me, but how could God love **her**?” What do I do with that?

Response…

Admit that it is a good point. That unconditional love is ridiculous.

Made me think about how easy it is for us humans to bring our own crap to the table when it comes to thinking about and interacting with God.

Assuming the love of God for oneself exclusively and judging others as unworthy is, in my book, the height of spiritual arrogance – especially in a faith that is built on the notion of God as love. But spiritual arrogance comes in many shapes and forms. Like when we assume that God loves everyone but us. Or that God loves noone at all. I’ve been guilty of all of it at one time or another in my life. Probably will again if I don’t take care to remember that my capacity to know about God is dwarfed by God’s capacity to be God.
What do you think?
