I met singer/songwriter Katie Rice about a month ago at a weekend retreat. The moment we greeted one another in the great room of the house we shared with a dozen or so fellow wanderers I sensed something in her gentle spirit that was warm and endearing. As the weekend progressed and I learned more about Katie, I was captured by her courage, her honesty and her dedication to following her heart even when it leads her to places that stretch her beyond her comfort zone.

That’s my kind of girl…

I didn’t know she was a muscian until we ventured into a quiet corner and she played a song for me – a melodic, heart-felt Christmas song called Sweet Night. She was kind enough to allow me to post the song here to kick off the Christmas rush with a gentle reminder of what the season is about – a mother, a father, a baby and the beginning of something remarkable.
