Is lying wrong?

How about cheating?
Stealing?
My 1970s/80s upbringing was clear. While moral dilemmas like a person stealing food for a hungry child or a guest politely telling someone that dinner tastes great when the chicken is dry may have been debate-worthy topics in a philosophy class, lying, cheating and stealing were just wrong.
Is that still the case? I’ve heard different takes on this and would love to hear your thoughts…
