I recently wrote an essay, posted today at the Association of Mormon Letters website, about whether it’s more difficult for Mormon novelists to get published than it might be for other authors. I argue that it most certainly is.

(Note that this is about Mormons who want to write commercial, Mormon-themed fiction for Mormon audiences, not for the Shannon Hales, Orson Scott Cards and Stephenie Meyers of the world who write for the national market. For them, the playing field is basically even. Anyone with enough talent and determination can succeed there.)

I think there is good news, though, since publishing and bookselling are changing so rapidly. Writers who are serious about the LDS market can take heart that technology is most definitely on their side.  –JKR
