Hollywood actress Raquel Welch peacefully passed away at the age of 82 after a brief illness, confirmed by her representative, Steve Sauer. “Raquel Welch, the legendary bombshell actress of film, television and stage, passed away peacefully early this morning after a brief illness,” said Sauer in the statement. The statement continued by saying, “Her career spanned over 50 years starring in over 30 films and 50 television series and appearances. The Golden Globe winner, in more recent years, was involved in a very successful line of wigs. Raquel leaves behind her two children, son Damon Welch and her daughter, Tahnee Welch.”
Welch rose to fame in the 1960s when she starred in “Fantastic Voyage” and “One Million Years BC.” She worked alongside some of Hollywood’s leading men including Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Burt Reynolds, Robert Wagner and James Stewart. Neil Cavuto paid tribute to Welch on his talk show “Your World” saying, “Word today that actress Raquel Welch has died. She passed away earlier today after a brief illness, that’s all we know, but there was nothing brief about her life or impact on Hollywood.” He continued saying, “Men ogled her, fellow stars clamored to be in movies with her – a lot of movies. From ‘Fantastic Voyage’ to ‘Bedazzled’ to ‘One Million Years B.C.’ and ‘The Three Musketeers’ which personified pretty much her sense of humor. ‘Time’ magazine once called her the most beautiful woman on the planet, ‘Empire’ magazine one of the 100 sexiest stars in film history, and TMZ one of the most sought after female stars throughout the 1960s and 70s.”
Welch won a Golden Globe award in 1974 for best actress in a comedy after she starred in “The Three Musketeers,” revealing that winning the award was one of the proudest moments of her career. She is survived by her two children, Damon and Tahnee.
