Ray Lewis III, the son of NFL Hall of Fame linebacker Ray Lewis has sadly passed away at the age of 28. Lewis III, a former college football player himself, had just celebrated his birthday on June 5th. His younger brother, Rashaan Lewis, shared a touching tribute to Instagram confirming his passing saying, “Really can’t believe I’m even typing this but RIP big brother. A true angel. I pray you’re at peace now because I know how much you [were] really hurting.” He continued by saying, I don’t and I won’t ever have the words man, ’cause this pain right here…I love you, I love you, I love you.” He ended the message writing, “Just watch over us all big bruh. Be our guardian. I promise, I’ll make you smile and proud.”

Lewis III, was a standout running back in high school while attending Lake Mary Prep High School in Florida before going on to play at the college level for the Miami Hurricanes, coastal Carolina Chanticleers and the Virginia Union Panthers. TMZ spoke with Virginia Union Associate Head Coach, Diego Ryland, about Lewis III’s passing where he said, “Great young man and a better teammate. The entire Virginia Union University community is praying for the family as they deal with the loss of Ray.”

Lewis III’s cause of death is unknown.
