Burt Bacharach, an award-winning composer, has passed away at the age of 94. His publicist Tina Brausam confirmed that Bacharach died of natural causes in his home in Los Angeles on Wednesday. The composer was best known for his songs such as “Walk On By,” “Do You Know the Way to San Jose,” and “Raindrops Keep Fallin’ on my Head.”

Bacharach achieved many milestones which earned him numerous awards throughout the years such as eight Grammy awards and three Oscar awards. In 1970, he received two Academy Awards for the score of “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” and for the song “Raindrops Keep Fallin’ on My Head.”  In 1982, he and his then-wife, Carole Bayer, won Oscars for “Best That You Can Do,” the theme from “Arthur.” He also composed soundtracks in movies such as “What’s New, Pussycat?,” “Alfie,” and the James Bond spoof “Casino Royale” in 1967.

The composer also wrote songs for many musicians including Tom Jones, Dionne Warwick and Dusty Springfield. Bacharach was essentially a pop composer, but he created many hits for artists in other genres of music. He worked with country artists such as Marty Robbins, rhythm and blues artists such as Chuck Jackson and soul artists such as Aretha Franklin and Luther Vandross. Most recently, Bacharach worked with rapper Dr. Dre.

Bacharach was married four times throughout his life beginning with Paula Stewart who he was married to from 1953 to 1958. Second, he was married to Angie Dickinson from 1965 to 1981. Carole Bayer Sager was his third wife who he was married to from 1982 to 1991. Lastly, he married his current wife Jane Hansen in 1993. Bacharach is survived by his wife Hansen along with his children Oliver, Raleigh and Christopher.
