pragmagic2.jpgIn a recent email chat a friend mentioned his need to make pragmatic choices while being open to “the magic carpet ride” that is his life sometimes. He called this combo “…pragmagic, if you will.”

I love that.

For me it distills the idea that we can receive the miraculous moments and lovely wind-shifts and authentically sparkly fairy dust life sends our way, and yet stay earth-bound, with goals, priorities, and people we love in sight. Sort of like, “Trust in Allah, but tie up your camel,” in a word. Since I tend to be drawn to extremes–knuckling down or being swept away–I adore this notion of enchanted equilibrium.
