One of my favorite musicians is the amazing Donna De Lory. She once upon a time was a backup singer for Madonna before making her devotional music full time–sometimes in Sanskrit, sometimes English. Spiritual but not religious. And she is just so lovely. When I saw her play this tune, In the Sun, live, she said that the song’s main lyrics are “The nicest thing you could ever say to anyone.” Indeed that is so. This very homegrown quality video has her singing it live while playing harmonium. Her essence jumps out. I want to reach in and hug her.
