Parliament of the World's ReligionsOur friends over at EnlightenNext magazine, run by spiritual teacher Andrew Cohen, spent last week at the Parliament of World Religions in Melbourne, Australia. This event has been happening every five years since 1993 in countries around the world. The idea is to bring together people of many, many faiths and promote dialogue and understanding in the name of global peace and justice.

Speakers ranged from the Dalai Lama to Jimmy Carter.

Some of the topics they talked about:

  • indigenous reconciliation
  • global poverty and global warming
  • environmental care and degradation
  • education of the young and the challenges of social disengagement
  • voluntary and forced migration
  • artistic expression and spirituality and
  • the value of sports
  •
