If the Beatles and Delirious formed a band, it might sound like Above The Golden State, the pop rock group that this week released their self-titled debut album on Sparrow Records.
The Portland, Oregon natives call their style of music “West Coast Rock Pop.” “We’re doing our best not to call it surf-rock,” says lead vocalist Michael Watson. “But yeah, basically, it’s that with a touch of the rainy Northwest.”
Whatever you call it, it’s good, and the band has landed a hit with their first national release. The first single, “Sound of Your Name,” currently sits at #23 on Radio & Records Christian Adult Contemporary chart.
With strong vocals and harmonies and a Euro-modern rock and pop sound, this is an album you won’t want to miss. For more about Above The Golden State, visit their website.
