In the spirit of once again bringing you Christian music stories from around the world (which seems to be the theme this week), let me introduce you to the band Straatligkinders, from North West South Africa. That’s right. North West South Africa. Potchefstroom, to be exact. The band will be opening for Underoath when the screamo hard rockers tour South Africa this fall.I’m not a fan of screamo, but what I found cool about this band is that their video was filmed in an x-ray machine. Very clever. And aside from the screaming, the song is good. Check it out. (If you can’t understand what they’re saying, I think it’s because they’re singing in Afrikaans.)I also like the answer bassist Hein Kruger gave when asked by blunt.co.za about the band’s ties to Christian music:

“First of all, we don’t like to call ourselves a “Christian band”. We’re four Christians in a band. Christianity is a religion not a music style. There’s no such thing as a Christian G or A note, so why call ourselves a “Christian band”? We sing about what’s in our hearts, and music is what we love doing, but we don’t throw Bible verses into the mosh-pit. “
