The 14th Annual Inspirational Country Music Awards were handed out last night, and Ricky Skaggs (pictured right) was the big winner when he was named Musician of the Year, and Ricky Skaggs & The Whites won Mainstream Country Artist of the Year and Inspirational Bluegrass Artist.
Del Way was named Male Vocalist of the year, and Sonya Isaacs Female Vocalist of the Year. The Bellamy Brothers took home the award for Vocal Duo of the Year, and Last Light Band was named Vocal Group or Band of the Year. George Strait’s “I Saw God Today” was named Mainstream Inspirational Country Song.
The event was hosted by multi-platinum artist Collin Raye and held before a live audience at the Trinity Music City USA Auditorium in Hendersonville, Tennessee.
The Isaacs opened the show with the song “Mamma’s Teaching Angels How To Sing” as a tribute to the late Dottie Rambo and Phil Stacey showed why he was a standout on American Idol last year with his performance of his new single, “Identity.” Other performers included host Collin Raye, Tracy Lawrence, Greg McDougal, Point of Grace, Del Way, CrossCountry The Band, Russ Murphy, Sandra Dee, James Payne, Last Light Band, Mike Rimmey, Tommy Brandt, and Austin’s Bridge.
The show was taped before a live audience and will be aired on Comcast On Demand; CMT Loaded; Sky Angel’s Angel Two Network; Cornerstone TeleVision; The Worship Network; National Religious Broadcaster (NRB); CTS Television Canada; Faith TV; and TCT Networks.
