CCM icon Michael W. Smith told the Associated Press that he’s met with Sen. John McCain, and tried without success to meet with Sen. Barak Obama, to urge both presidential candidates that if they win, to continue President Bush’s emergency plan to fight AIDS in Africa.
The AP story reports that Smith says he will continue to thank God for His blessings, regardless of who wins the election, adding, “My security’s not in the political system. My security rests in something much greater than that.”
Michael W. Smith is currently on tour with fellow music legend Steven Curtis Chapman on the United Tour. The tour kicked off October 9 in Columbus, Ohio and concludes in St. Augustine, Florida on November 8 and benefits Compassion International and Chapman’s adoption ministry Shaohannah’s Hope.
